Recreation Program

We are excited you are interested in our club and what we have to offer your family and your athlete(s).

Our volunteer coaches are ready to help your child be introduced to soccer, provide a fun and safe environment. Many athletes join our recreational program have minimal or with no soccer experience, so please don’t be intimidated and count your child out. We meet them at their skill level and provide a positive program that helps the learn and improve their play.

Our approach to soccer combines various skill training, with competitive games, allowing players to develop not only as individuals, but together as a team for ages U4-U16.

Depending on the number of players in an age group, athletes will be placed on teams based on their location, friend request and then skill level.  Players can/will be moved around during a season at the coach's discretion and no player is guaranteed a spot on any level team for an entire season.

If you have 3 or more siblings registering for youth soccer each player’s registration fee will be $20 off.

Yes, the Board of Directors provides for a limited number of scholarships each season for those who find themselves in financial difficulties. Applicants should contact the league to discuss their proof of financial hardship. The Board will verify the information and make a decision on the request. If approved, the applicant must agree to work at the fields (in areas such as concessions, field clean up, field maintenance, etc.) a specified number of hours.

You will need to provide the following items for your player(s):
Soccer cleats (no toe cleat – such as what is found on baseball and football cleats)
Shin guards
Black soccer shorts
Black soccer socks
Soccer ball. Soccer ball size is based on the player’s age group:

U4-U8 use a size 3 ball
U9-U11 use a size 4 ball
U12 and up use a size 5 ball

You will also need to provide rides to practices and games. Please remember to bring your child something to drink at each practice and game. The concession stand will be open on Saturdays and will have drinks for sale. Lastly, you will need to provide love, support and a positive attitude for your soccer star!

We have decided to not allow for requests anymore. This has caused many unbalanced teams and at times this has not been for the best interest of the players.

Fall 2022 Youth Rec Soccer will only be played this season for players born in the years: 2018 to 2007

Playing up in the next league level is allowed but will be very limited. All play-up requests will be reviewed by the Director of Coaching and must have the approval of the Registration Manager.

Playing down in a younger league is allowed only for medical reasons, requires a doctor’s letter, and the approval of the Registration Manager.

WUSC will combine age groups to accommodate team sizes and coaching.

We do our best to accommodate friend requests.

You will meet your coach at our Rec Club organizational meeting and on the TeamSnap App

Wilson United Soccer Club games are played at the Vulcan Materials Soccer Complex in Lebanon. Most of the time games are on Saturday.

No, instead we let you communicate a day that you cannot practice. We will try to accommodate that request. As for practice most teams practice once or twice during the week and we ask that they be after 5pm. Practices are held in Mt Juliet, Lebanon and hopefully Gladeville and Watertown (pending if we get enough players for that area). Your coach will decide on practice days and time.

U5 to U6 – about 8 we play 4v4
U7 to U8 – about 10 we play 4v4
U9 to U10 – about 12 we play 7v7
U11 to U14 – about 15 we play 9v9
U16 – about 18 we try to play 11v11

Most of our teams are separated into boys and girls teams.

Wilson United Soccer Club would like parents to strongly consider volunteering to help out.

Because Wilson United Soccer Club (Rec) is an all-volunteer organization (there are no paid positions on the Board), volunteers are absolutely vital to the success and growth of Wilson United Soccer. It also doesn’t matter how old you are: we have volunteers as young as seven years old as well as grandparents helping on game days, collecting trash, field setup and take down, bathroom supply maintenance, registration, etc.

No refunds will be granted to those who break the rules or the policies of Wilson United Soccer League.
Refunds are usually processed within a few weeks after the season begins.
Refunds will be allowed up until the beginning of the rec season.

We don’t let a little rain keep us from playing soccer. We will only cancel games in the event of a thunderstorm or if there is standing water on the fields. We also do not cancel games due to cold weather. If it’s cold outside, players are encouraged to wear sweatpants, a sweatshirt or jacket (MUST be worn under their soccer jersey), and even a hat and gloves.

The Field Commissioner Team will make the decision to cancel games due to weather. If the decision is made to cancel games, we will post a notice on the front page of our website, facebook and send out a text message to the league. So that we can provide as much notice as possible to all of our coaches, referees, players, and their families, every attempt is made to have the decision made and the notices out by 7:00 am on practice and game mornings.

If the weather is questionable and you don’t see a notice on the web site, assume that all practices and games will be played as scheduled.

Wilson United follows rules of FIFA and modifies them for our various age groups.

Yes. For your child’s safety, the Tennessee State Soccer Association recommends that all coaches complete a Volunteer Disclosure statement and background check.
