Registration for the Fall 2020 season is now open - Click HERE
The registration fee for all youth soccer registrations received during open registration is $85.
This year is modified due to COVID.
The youth soccer registration fee includes:
Soccer jersey ($10 discount if you use a previous 2 sided jersey)
Participation medal at the end of the season
We will try to play games in Oct and Nov if restrictions are lifted. NO GAMES are guaranteed this season.
Insurance and registration through the Tennessee State Soccer Association
Please note: The insurance through the Tennessee State Soccer Association is a secondary medical insurance that covers injuries incurred during a Wilson United Soccer League practice or game. This insurance covers approved costs after your primary medical insurance has paid and after you have paid a deductible. This insurance is not intended to be a primary medical insurance policy. The insurance does not cover COVID.
What plans does WUSL have to manage COVID?
We are finalizing our protocols for this season but here are a few of the steps that we have outlined:
- Per TSSA and State requirements there will be no contact play until Aug 29, this may be extended. In fact, if the City or State increase their restrictions we might need to shutdown the season fully. Registrations will not be refunded if the season is cancelled due to COVID.
- Groups will be limited to 50.
- Hand cleansing stations will be available throughout the park
- All players that are not feeling well or have an elevated temperature above 100.4 will not be allowed to participate
- Parents and players will be separated during practices by a great distance on the fields.
- Players will be separated in the drills and physical activities.
- During breaks players will not be allowed to socialize and will return to their equipment (2 yrds away from others)
- Positive testing notification procedures
- Encourage that only players and 1 parent attend a practice. No other siblings should be near the practice area.
- No group celebrations, no high 5's, hug, handshakes, etc
- Reduced number of fields during practice and games
- Expanded space between fields
- There will be no team pictures this season
Is there a discount for multiple children in the same family?
If you have 3 or more siblings registering for youth soccer each player's registration fee will be $70 instead of $85.
Are there any scholarships available for those who can’t afford the registration fees?
Yes, the Board of Directors provides for a limited number of scholarships each season for those who find themselves in financial difficulties. Applicants should contact the league to discuss their proof of financial hardship. The Board will verify the information and make a decision on the request. If approved, the applicant must agree to work at the fields (in areas such as concessions, field clean up, field maintenance, etc.) a specified number of hours.
What am I responsible for providing?
You will need to provide the following items for your player(s):
Soccer cleats (no toe cleat – such as what is found on baseball and football cleats)
Black soccer shorts
Black soccer socks
Soccer ball. Soccer ball size is based on the player’s age group:
U4-U8 use a size 3 ball
U9-U11 use a size 4 ball
U12 and up use a size 5 ball
You will also need to provide rides to practices and games. Please remember to bring your child something to drink at each practice and game. The concession stand will be open on Saturdays and will have drinks for sale. Last you will need to provide love, support and a positive attitude for your soccer star!
How do I know if my child is too young or too old to play? In what age division would my child play?
Fall 2020 Youth league soccer will only be played this season for players born in the years: 2016 to 2007
Playing up in the next league level is allowed but will be very limited. All play-up requests will be reviewed by the Director of Coaching and must have the approval of the Registration Manager.
Playing down in a younger league is allowed only for medical reasons, requires a doctor's letter, and the approval of the Registration Manager.
WUSL will combine age groups to accommodate team sizes and coaching.
Can I request a specific coach?
Not this season. We will be placing players specifically to their age levels. If teams are built for games, we will move players around per the group coach's direction.
Can I request that my child be placed on the same team as another player?
Not this season.
When will I hear from a coach to know when my child has practice?
Your coach will meet you at your first practice. The practice schedule can be found here
When do you play games? Where do you play games?
If and when the contact restrictions are lifted, games will be played Mon, Tue, Thur, Sat and Sun.
Wilson United Soccer League games are played at the Lebanon Soccer Complex.
Can I request that my child be placed on a team that practices on a specific day?
No, not this season
How many players are on a team?
Initially our teams will be up to 45 players. This is a lot, but our soccer play this initial season is limited to physical and technical drill until Aug 29. No contact is allowed until limitations are lifted. If and when limitations are lifted smaller teams will be built for games.
To learn more about returning to play see this PDF
Are the teams co-ed, or are there all girls teams and all boys teams?
Most of our teams are separated into boys and girls teams.
The registration form includes a section about volunteering. Do I *have to* volunteer?
Wilson United Soccer League would like parents to strongly consider volunteering to help out.
Because Wilson United Soccer League is an all-volunteer organization (there are no paid positions on the Board), volunteers are absolutely vital to the success and growth of Wilson United Soccer League. It also doesn’t matter how old you are: we have volunteers as young as seven years old as well as grandparents helping on game days, collecting trash, field setup and take down, bathroom supply maintenance, registration, etc.
How do I register?
Registration is online between July 6 and Aug 8 (10 pm) and we will have 1 in person registration event .
In person registration will be Aug 1 at Lebanon Soccer Complex between 9 and 3.
806 Castle Height Ave
Lebanon TN 37087
What is the cancellation/refund policy?
Due to COVID we are unable to offer a refund at Aug 1
No refunds will be granted to those who break the rules or the policies of Wilson United Soccer League.
Refunds are usually processed within a few weeks after the season begins.
What happens if it rains on a practice or game day?
We don’t let a little rain keep us from playing soccer. We will only cancel games in the event of a thunderstorm or if there is standing water on the fields. We also do not cancel games due to cold weather. If it’s cold outside, players are encouraged to wear sweatpants, a sweatshirt or jacket (MUST be worn under their soccer jersey), and even a hat and gloves.
The Field Commissioner Team will make the decision to cancel games due to weather. If the decision is made to cancel games, we will post a notice on the front page of our website, facebook and send out a text message to the league. So that we can provide as much notice as possible to all of our coaches, referees, players, and their families, every attempt is made to have the decision made and the notices out by 7:00 am on practice and game mornings.
If the weather is questionable and you don’t see a notice on the web site, assume that all practices and games will be played as scheduled.
This is my first exposure to soccer – what are the rules?
Wilson United follows rules of FIFA and modifies them for our various age groups.
Is there any type of screening process for coaches?
Yes. For your child’s safety, the Tennessee State Soccer Association recommends that all coaches complete a Volunteer Disclosure statement and background check.
Who do I talk to about getting started as a volunteer or coach? How could I volunteer my time?
